Project Introduction

Gera Developers grand multiuse development in Goa was envisioned to be more than an architectural statement. It was intended to become a landmark. With a strong focus on creating a child-centric environment , the project presented an opportunity to go beyond built form and craft a memorable, emotionally engaging experience. Positioned along the highway and designed to resonate with its residents, the development called for a distinct visual identity which would be both iconic and meaningful.

The Design Solution

Sarg proposed an engaging, large-scale mural across the facade facing the highway. One building narrates stories from the Panchatantra, creating a playful and culturally rooted connection for children. The second building explores the metaphor of the world as a garden where vibrant butterflies represent dreams, diversity, and boundless imagination.

At the entrance, a 6-meter-tall sculptural installation titled River of Joy. Inspired by the flow of a river and its branching streams, the form rises upward, symbolizing the journey toward self-realisation and purpose. The inner surface reflects the calm blue of flowing water, while the mirrored exterior captures and reflects the ever-changing surroundings bringing the sculpture to life.

Key Features

The mural is handcrafted using ferrocement and finished with paint, allowing for both durability and expressive detail. The River of Joy sculpture is a self-standing stainless steel structure with a mirror finish. Fabricated from welded plates, it flows upward like merging streams that culminate in a singular peak. Reflective and dynamic, it embodies the journey of life, branching, converging, and striving toward a higher purpose.

Behind the Scenes

Perspectives

The sculpture is inherently self-stable — its form carries its own balance. The foundation’s role is simply to prevent settlement or movement; it doesn’t need structural support, just a firm base to keep it steady.

— Structural Designer

Together, the mural and sculpture transform the development into an immersive landmark where art, storytelling, and architecture come together to create a lasting sense of identity and belonging.
